Internet Statement 2003-01

New Year Greetings for 2003

For the 1st of January, 2003, we send greetings to all revolutionary and communist organisations of the world, to the many different organisations in our country, to the readers of our publications and our internet pages, and of course to all comrades working in our organisation or cooperating with it, at the many different points.

The year 2002 has everywhere produced beginnings for a closer going together of the many different leftist and revolutionary forces. This can be stated on a world-wide level. There is a striving for unity among the revolutionaries, and this goes along with the rise of resistance against the deprivation of social rights everywhere and the new social struggles which are in the making. In all of the regions the social contradictions have intensified. Completely correspondingly, the various imperialist powers are putting forward threats of war and trouble-making, aggravations of the international situation and threats in their domestic policies, in order to set something against these growing social contradictions which will also grow together into one world-wide front.

In 2003 and perhaps also in 2004 it will especially matter that we arrive at concrete forms of cooperation between the various organisations. We direct our greetings also to all those organisations which have deep-seated differences with us but have kept to the basic goal of the communist society under the conditions that by the downfall of revisionism and the imperialist subversion things temporarily appeared extremely difficult. In spite of the sharpness of the polemics and the necessity to unconditionally uncover weaknesses with us as well as with others, we set great store by our willing to go together with all forces who share with us the principles of Marxism and communism and the dialectical and materialistic world view. We shall in any instance take up various proposals of organisations for a closer cooperation or for a further becoming acquainted with each other some time soon and shall ourselves develop further initatives. We also ask for consideration that we as well as other organisations are presently not able to cope with all tasks simultaneously.

Basically there are considerable dangers in the present situation, and this must not be overlooked; but if one sees the main trend, the intensification of the social conflicts, one must not be too pessimistic either. There isn’t any imperialist power which is able in any way to control things altogether, even if the US officially declares that she wants that, in fact by decree,  to become the principle of her policy. Its neither the US who controls the international situation in any way, she is itself the one who is being driven in the present situation. As for the rest of the imperialist and capitalist countries, they are even much less capable of controlling things.

Because of its own laws capitalism is compelled everywhere to go over to a radical attack against the rights the workers acquired in the past and to everywhere create a giant industrial reserve army on a level as low as possible for its capitalist  exploitation. This trend has meanwhile caught also the old capitalist countries themselves. This, however, will inevitably give rise to the recollection of the revolutionary struggle of the proletariat and its necessity.

A core point is inevitably formed by the debate on revisionism and its history and its consequences during the 2nd half of the 20th century, in particular during the past 25 years. We think that on the one hand it is necessary to compare any theory, included Marxism, Leninism and all theories which were further developed out of them, with reality and to continuously confront them with reality. But the other way round  the concrete phenomena of today’s political and economic development in turn prove how real Marxism, Leninism and its further developments are up to today. Besides the realization of the latest developments of capitalism it will particularly matter to comprehend the wide-spread, basic cultural phenomena in the world and to examine them in the light of today’s scientific development.
