What Kind of a Tribunal Is the One Sitting at The Hague?

Its Only Intention Is to Justify the NATO War

It plays a tribunal for the prosecution of war criminals, but actually, by its whole practice, covers NATO’s war against Yugoslavia, a war by several large nations against a small nation, using massive force of arms and bombings, the destruction of a very large part of the industrial plants and the most important traffic junctions like bridges etc., and attempts to make this war seem justified. Accordingly, this tribunal does not at all prosecute all the war criminals of the Bosnian war, but very purposefully certain persons responsible are picked out who fit into the political concept of justifying NATO’s aggression against Yugoslavia.

What did all the media and all the politicians shout in March 1999?

„Guilty for this war is nobody but the president Milosevic, he alone bears the responsibility for NATO being forced to bomb Yugoslavia. His 'dictatorship' is the reason for this war.“

This was eccentric right from the start, to a degree that it could only be condemned as an infamous cynicism. Today, Milosevic is in jail after NATO exerted pressure, but the war is going on, in the middle of Macedonia and without any participation by Milosevic, actually predominantly caused by the KLA. This is the same KLA which had been built up by NATO two years before the war of 1999 for the provocation of the war there, which by Western media themselves was associated with trafficking in human beings, with the worst crimes. Now it has brought some kind of guerrilla war regardlessly also into Macedonia. The events of today in Macedonia once again give the lie to NATO because of its action.

In the spring of 1999 NATO bombed the small country of Serbia massively because it was not willing to give in to its own actual incapacitation and occupation as demanded in the Rambouillet agreement. NATO itself had been taking part, via the KLA which previously had been furthered for more than two years by NATO, in the generation and intensification of the situation in Kosovo, and finally in the generation of the war. All that although already then it was clear that this organisation had close connections to organised crime and bore anything but the signs of a liberation army. For example, on July 26, 2000, the Washington Times had a report (See note 1) explaining that the Albanian Kosovo is one of the main centers of the sale of hundreds of thousands of women from Eastern Europe to the Western European countries and the US. This is happening actually before KFOR’s very eyes which therefore is co-responsible for the occurrences. And it is not only single newspaper reports to testify such things, but also the experiences with Kosovo Albanians in Germany show in many instances that many of them engage in such things.

After NATO had forced Yugoslavia by military means to give in and industrial fundaments had been annihilated, it immediately afterwards built up an economic blockade with the dictum: only if you elect a government obliging us you will be able to save yourselves from starvation, only in this case we shall remove the blockade, only then you will get money. For more than one year this pressure was exerted. The global champions of the „rule of the law“ bluntly raise the demand: break your constitution and do exactly what we want, or you won’t get money. Among other things they attempt in this way to get Milosevic to The Hague, to sentence him as „war criminal“ and to appear in a clean slate themselves.

One actually may criticize the Milosevic government which indeed had close connections with the old bureaucratic system and leant on it - a justification, however, for NATO expansionism, NATO terrorism and NATO violations these points do not constitute at all. Moreover it must not be forgot that there were no chances for improvements of the social conditions in Yugoslavia because of the permanent pressure and threat situation during the last years.

The representatives submissive to NATO (and actually being instrumentalized by it) often are persons who themselves are not free from connections to war crimes. In particular also the present prime minister Djindjic has had a longtime connection with the infamous Arkan, one of the worst war criminals in Bosnia. That the Arkan file in The Hague is being kept under lock and key has no reason other than the connections which had always existed from the West to Arkan, than his being joined with organised crime in the West and the Western governments. (See note 2)

With regard to this, NATO cannot play the advocate of violated and suppressed people in Bosnia. The responsibility of Serbia for certain parts of the war in Yugoslavia and the personal responsibility of Milosevic need not to be passed over but should be dealt with like all the occurrences there. But belonging to them are very different sides, as for example also the furthering of Islamic fundamentalism by the Bosnian government, having threatened others with actual slavery and having also provoked certain reactions, or Croatia’s policies working for example at forging together the Catholic church and Islam for common reactionary purposes and therefore also bearing responsibility in Yugoslavia. To include these things, however, the so-called Hague tribunal did not define as its task at all, all it wants is to make NATO’s war appear justified, and all of that in the present moment when these policies are experiencing their bankruptcy in Macedonia.

NATO’s policy is reaching a level in Yugoslavia that one cannot say anything any more but: there must be an end to this sort of military alliance which actually has become the military expression of the worst capitalism, of violations of children and of trafficking in human beings. We neither can regard it mere chance that Brussels, the center of NATO and European Union, has become known to be the center of the dirtiest interweavings of the organised men-violating crime with the administration. These Belgian administrations are simultaneously interwoven with the international institutions in Brussels,  and considering this one need not wonder about the uncoverings about the activities in today’s Kosovo and in connection with the KLA. From the Dutroux affair to Kosovo there is a dirty trail. (See note 3)

Also if one acknowledges that the Albanian minority in Macedonia has undergone certain discriminations in the past, one has to state, however, that it now, after having started the war there by means of the KLA, screams for NATO to take things under control. Again they are operating as troublemakers in the same way, in order to then call for NATO as the occupation force. In the case of Macedonia a government is in power which has played the role of an NATO ally and now gets the result of this role. It would have been better if they’d helped Serbia and Yugoslavia.

The responsibilities for the atrocities in the Balkans during the war from 1991 to 1995 must be clarified on a different level, all the main responsibles taking part. The NATO tribunal of The Hague, however, actually a fraud, must be dissolved, and in the same way the government by NATO’s grace has to stop its „trials“ which amount to nothing but doing the tribunals groundwork.

The most important however is the following: the US, the Federal Republic of Germany and NATO are ready to make a lot of money flow into Serbia  under the condition that the latter is willing to be instrumentalized by NATO. But what ensues then? The general thrust towards Russia?

After the deprivations the Serbian people has undergone it is clear that many people at first see this possible source of money as a blessing. But what have ten years of capitalism in the East brought so far? In Russia and the Ukraine an unprecedented social catastrophe, and in the other East European countries, too, it is not all too different. In all of these countries there was an intermediate upturn because the production previously done in Germany, the Netherlands or Austria was transferred to Poland or Czechia. But how long will this continue? As long  as there is not found another country which is even cheaper, and then the short-lived upturn is cut off. And what is to come of an aggressive military thrust into the Eastern direction? Therefore it is necessary to detach oneself from the short-winded promises which NATO uses for its fraud. What is happening in Macedonia today should prompt the peoples of the Balkans to draw a closing line to the subversive role of certain forces, and to go over to a counterattack against the governments built up there and depending from NATO.

The core of everything which this new capitalist policy and NATO together with it are up to is to take away from the peoples and nations their own dignity, to completely functionalize them, to incite them to abandon all social principles which guarantee the social cohesion, in order to finally be able to treat these societies completely as material at capitalism’s disposal. Nobody except for a tiny stratum of cut-throat capitalists will have an advantage in this society.

Note 1:
Quotation from the Washington Post of July, 26, 2000:

„According to the International Organization for Migration, 300,000 women from Eastern Europe work as prostitutes in Western Europe, 35,000 in Italy alone. The United Nations estimates the worldwide profit to be $7 billion a year, while other sources place it at $12 billion. The number of prostitutes from the Balkans, where close to a decade of war has wiped out many ordinary jobs, ‘has tripled if not quadrupled in the last three to four years,’ says Peter von Behtlemfalvy, the migration organization's top representative to the EU.
Mostly, they are brought here by sea in dinghies that also carry the men  who bought them in Albania. These men are the most recent in a string of owners from whom there is no easy escape.“

Note 2:
Only recently the indictment against "Arkan" was published which, however, comprises only a list of the crimes he is accused of, without mentioning any of his connections with politicians or institutions.      back to text

Note 3:
The „Dutroux affair“ preoccupied the public mind for years. Dutroux was a child violator and murderer  who was protected by several administrations in Belgium. He abused and  violated more than half a dozen children and procured them to personalities in Belgium. Up to today the whole extent of this scandal is covered. Large protest marches took place, nevertheless the Belgian authorities continued to manipulate.
